A house under construction while being lived in...
It all started here in the backyard which is basically done. Please disregard the mess. Everything from the inside of the house is currently in the front and back yard! We've even had people stop today and ask if we were having a yard sale. Hmmm....it's tempting.
Warning...graphic pictures not for the squeamish to follow!
This is the room that we use most of the time. Once the carpet was removed The Peddler thought something didn't look right at the baseboard. He opened up the wall to find mold and termite damage. No living termites since the house was tented before we bought it but those termites had a really good meal before their demise!
The boards that the walls were framed on top of were literally gone. And the studs were like cardboard. Gross!
Here's a 2 x 4 looking at it from the bottom.
Here's the living room in the very front of the house after the wood floor was taken out. We think what's left is the original floor complete with holes that let you look under the house.
Close up of one of the holes.
Now back to the first room. New wall framed in and Mike is getting to work on the drywall.
The Peddler is laying the tile floor.
So wish us luck! Something has to be finished by the end of the day today. It's supposed to rain tomorrow!
Does this serve as a good excuse for being AWOL for awhile? I sure hope so!

oh my Lord! But at least it's all getting fixed right? And the tree with grass surrounding it looks so peaceful like you could roll out a blanket and have a backyard picnic.
OOOHHHH the possibilities.....
lanterns and lights would hang nicely from that tree too....
Great ideas Anjanette! The backyard is very peaceful and yes, the house is getting fixed. That's what happens when your house is almost 100 years old. You have to share it with the critters!
OMG, KIM!! When you and the Peddler take on a project, you really take on a project!! I hope things move along quickly for you, because that rain is in the forecast through Wednesday!! But you know what?? We may not even see a drop!!
Well, hope he makes it but there is no way I would be getting that done in a day! Work, work, work.-
Rain down there most likely means snow up here. I best keep this fire going!
Oh- and I am so glad the walls did not fall in on top of you!
Boy, you will have a new house by the time they are finished. One never knows what they will find when you start remodeling a historic home. Did you find any treasures under the house? Maybe a bag of gold?
Did you find that gray cat under the house?
OMG girl, what a mess you poor thing! BUT the good news is...just think how fab it'll be when you're done! Can't wait to see the finished project!
You are forgiven for being AWOL...it looks like you have been VERY busy! I hate the "MIDDLE" part of doing home projects...but love the "AFTER"...I'm sure it will be wonderful!
It will be worth all the mess
Can't get over the pic of the end of the 2x4! Just scary!
Glad things are getting fixed. It is done yet??
WOW! That is incredible! SO MUCH work but the payoff will be FABULOUS! Just take a deep breath and have a safe trip to Cali! xo
wow! it's going to be AMAZING when you're done! when's the housewarming party?
It must have been soooo tedious in getting it shaped up....
Hope you will finish it to your expectations...
