Borrowed quote from this girl. Seems to be quite fitting for me at this time.

We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.
"

-Joseph Campbell

It's so easy to ask "why me?" And then you spend time with family and Hospice Workers who really get it. DAM is down to 79 whopping pounds, which translates to 10% of her body weight lost in two weeks. I think she is at peace knowing we will never call 911 again for her. We have Hopsice
and apparently they are here to take care of all of her needs. So, if for example, she falls again, we call Hospice. Sounds so simple. Hope it really works that way! Here's to a better 2009 for everyone!

Poor Dam! and poor you & the Mayor!
Those Hospice people are awesome, you let them take over some of the worry, they know what they're doing...Sorry all this is happening :(

I cannot say enough about Hospice of the Valley and how wonderful they are. They "get it" and will do everything to ease the patient and family through this difficult, dark time.

You can even talk to a hospice counselor about what you are going through. They understand and can offer suggestions, ideas, and ways to help you cope with all of this.

See you Saturday?? Hope so!! Hugs!! This, too, shall pass.

BTW, it is as simple as a phone call to hospice. They do it all!

I have only heard absolutely wonderful things about hospice. I am glad they are in place for you. The quote is a great one. Hugs to you, Kim!
By the way, would you please sign my sister-in-law, Marija, up for Ellen's class on the 28th? I tried emailing to Mystic but want to make sure the request gets to you. Thanks, my dear. I look forward to seeing you and giving you a hug.

I'm glad you have hospice. You definitely should call them if you need anything, or if DAM falls or needs them. Call and they will come!! Thinking of you and hoping you and The Peddler find some peace through all this....

It must be a relief to know she is being cared for in a compassionate way. My mom was in hospice and it was very peaceful.
